THE name Sarah Ringrose is dominating hammer throw events across Australia.
The 16-year-old has won three consecutive state and national titles, making her this week’s Junior Sports Star award nominee.
Sarah excels in shot put, javelin, discus and even horse riding but her talent really shines when she picks up the hammer.
“I used to do shot put and discus in primary school. Then my friend suggested I start hammer throw and introduced me to the coaches when I was 14,” she said.
“I like the fact it’s different, not many people know what it is.”

Co-coach Breanne Clement said Sarah shows “amazing commitment”.
“Her attitude and independence, competing at every competition, no matter where it is, really makes her stand out.”
