The Organic Foodies Market is proving that “paddock to plate” is not just a philosophy, it’s an experience.
The market is adding Canterbury Racecourse to its schedule from June 26, following the success of its monthly Peakhurst event, which draws up to 10,000 people, and weekly markets in Ramsgate, which attract 5000 people every Saturday.
Residents and visitors to the area will have a chance to buy produce direct from NSW farmers and producers at the racecourse.
“We’re looking at opening Canterbury with at least 60 to 70 stalls,” said director Kristina Spanos, whose sons Alex and Chris Maniatis manage the markets.
“It’ll be a foodies and farmers market, so we’ll have in excess of 10 farmers, some certified organic, some conventional farmers,” she said.
“Basically there’s everything there that one would need for their weekly shopping.”
“We’d love to create a family environment where it’s targeted for families to enjoy. They do have an opportunity to meet and greet the producers and basically shop paddock to plate,” Ms Spanos said.
Entry is free and there will be ample parking space with up to 1200 spaces free of charge.
The market opens on June 26 from 9am-2pm.
