GET set for a big dose of snappiness on Wednesday, November 22 when the biggest visual celebration of our city, #SnapSydney, returns for its fourth year.
Across 24 hours Sydneysiders and our team of journalists and photographers will set out to capture the heart and soul of wonderful home.
This year we are also suggesting people capture the themes of “memory lane”, “local characters” and “my family, my home”.
More than 18,000 photos were shared across Sydney and the Central Coast during last year’s #SnapSydney campaign.
All you have to do is snap, hashtag and share. Take a picture that embodies where you live. Hashtag it #SnapSydney, then post it to Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
Renowned landscape photographer Jenn Cooper has some rolled-gold tips to capture sensational snaps.
“Make sure you get to the spot half an hour before sunrise or sunset to get set up and watch the different lights change,” the Canon Collective ambassador said.
“Look for a shot that has something interesting in the foreground. This brings a sense of perspective to the shot. Reflections are great to bring interest into the shot.”
Ms Cooper said to think about storytelling when taking a photo — and consider markets for new faces and different cultures.
Nostalgia and shining a light on local characters will be a feature of #SnapSydney to get your community talking. And don’t be shy! Feel free to share a family selfie, your pets, and anything that makes your suburb unique.
