The RSPCA has joined forces with NSW Police to help save dozens of dogs that had been left to suffer in a disturbing case of animal cruelty in the Macarthur area.

Twenty four dogs have been rescued from a breeder’s property after NSW Police Force searched the site where they discovered several breaches of the Animal Welfare Code of Practice in relation to the living conditions and breeding standards.

The dogs were found to be suffering from several veterinary problems including poor body conditions, ear infections, intestinal worm burden, dental disease, conjunctivitis and matting.

According to an RSPCA statement, eight puppies and two heavily pregnant dogs were among the 24 taken into RSPCA NSW.

Both gave birth to seven puppies the very next day, bringing the total to 31 dogs under RSPCA NSW’s care.

“All 31 dogs remain in our care, where they are undergoing veterinary assessment and receiving treatment as needed.

The matter is now part of an animal cruelty investigation.
