Want to buy a bottle of single malt scotch for $13,999.99? Try the new Costco store at Marsden Park

A SINGLE bottle of a rare GlenGrant single malt scotch whiskey priced at $13,999.99 will be available at the new Costco at Marsden Park when it opens on Wednesday, August 30.

COSTCO is expecting a strong demand when it opens its Marsden Park store in the Sydney Business Park on Wednesday, August 30, though it will be a rare day when someone can cough up $13,999.99 for a limited edition of a 50-year-old bottle of GlenGrant single malt.

This is a rare scotch whiskey with just 150 bottles made and this was the only one made available to Costco.

Each piece is unique and handcrafted and presented in a hand-blown crystal glass decanter from Glencairn Crystal.

Each decanter is hand engraved, hand numbered and finished with the number 50 in 18-carat gold lettering.

The US bulk discount giant said it is creating 280 new jobs at this Marsden Park store which includes a petrol station that opened on July 17.

Costco Wholesale Australia managing director Patrick Noone, who has worked with the company for 26 years, said Sydney Business Park is the ideal location for their company.

“Since we launched in Australia a decade ago, the Costco brand continues to be a standout success thanks to consumers who love the products we stock as well as our unique business model, which provides outstanding value to our membership base,” Mr Noone said.

The Marsden Park store will be Costco’s third Sydney outlet and ninth store nationwide.

Spanning 13,575 sqm, it includes tyre centre, food court, optometrist, hearing aid services and fresh food production.

The Sydney Business Park also includes Aldi, Baby & Toddler Town, Beacon Lighting, Bunnings Warehouse, Carpet Call, Coles Express, Costco Wholesale, Forty Winks, Home Consortium Marsden Park, Home Hub Marsden Park, Ikea, JB Hi-Fi Home, Knotts Pine, Lindt Factory Outlet, Reece, Repco, Shell, Snooze, and The Good Guys.

Sydney Business Park project manager, Owen Walsh, welcomed Costco, saying it will create new jobs and also provide more options for the community.

“The next five years will see even more dramatic transformation with major commercial towers to be built as well as a major town centre,” Mr Walsh said.

“By 2025, the surrounding North West Growth Centre is expected to support 177,000 new residents and 61,900 new homes.

“Sydney Business Park has a partnership with Marist 180 and Beacon Foundation, to provide training and job placement opportunities and supporting local schools with businesses in the project.

“New retail has created new jobs and that has attracted people to relocate here to be closer to where they work or to find work.

Sydney Business Park has secured around $600 million in investment to date, on track as part of the broader $3 billion project.
