Winter is here and the local brewery has the answer to beat the icy chill: dark beer.

The Australian Hotel and Brewery at Rouse Hill will hold a winter themed craft beer day on July 8, with fire pits, hearty stouts and slow cooked meats.

The free event, which starts in the brewery’s courtyard at 2pm, will offer visitors tastings of stouts and the opportunity to speak with the hotel’s resident experts.

The Australian Brewery started its beers in 2010 and has since expanded dramatically, with their award-winning beverages stocked at more than 100 venues across Sydney as well as being exported overseas.

The event on July 8 will give craft beer fans the chance to buy a special selection of stouts, including those from Western Australian brewery Nail Brewing and South Australia’s Pirate Life.

The Brewery’s own oatmeal stout “Into The Void”, named after the Black Sabbath song, and organic honey brown ale “It’s the way that shatters that matters” will also be available.

Pulled pork rolls and brisket, smoked for more than 10 hours, will be available to purchase from barbecue food truck Fire and Brimstone.
