Sydney Beer Week: a cheer to all things beer

THE biggest week of the year for beer fans is almost here, and a special beer has been brewed in its honour in Rouse Hill.

The Australian Brewery has created a light and delicate ale named Table Beer as the first official beer for Sydney Beer Week.

The beer, a Grisette style, will be sold at events across Sydney Beer Week, which runs from October 26 to November 4.

The brew was a collaboration between The Australian Brewery’s head brewer Dan Shaw and Sydney Beer Week general manager Liam Pereira and will be featured at the Sydney Beer Week Gala Launch in Darling Harbour on October 26.

Brewers and venues across the city will host events throughout the week, including The Australian Brewery who will run a beer competition called Inner West — War Out West.

The tap takeover will see six inner west craft breweries head to Rouse Hill to battle it out for the inaugural War Out West trophy.

The official beer for Sydney Beer Week will be available at the Rouse Hill brewery this weekend.

The competition will be held on Sunday, October 28 from 2pm until 9pm and will be open to the public with free admission and beer and food specials, plus the opportunity to try the Table Beer.

The Australian Brewery will also team up with whisky producers Glenfiddich for a boilmakers brunch on November 3 at the Dove & Olive Hotel in Surry Hills, where guests can try three boilmakers — a beer cocktail made with a shot of whisky — including a custom brewed IPA to match with Glenfiddich’s IPA barrel aged scotch.
