Rouse Hill Rams put up a valiant fight despite going down 3-0 to Kemps Creek United in the under-14 State Cup final at Valentine Sports Park, Glenwood, on Sunday.

Club president Rob Watson said it was a courageous effort to hold the opposition to just three goals.

“They’re a great bunch of kids and we’re really happy with their performance,” he said.

“Kemps Creek are really strong. They’re almost an academy team, so we did really well to keep them to 3-0. We had our chances as well, so it was a great result.”

Though they were knocked out of the competition a few weeks ago, Rouse Hill made history with their second chance after another team was disqualified.

“It’s the first time our club has made the State Cup finals,” Watson added. “They represented us really well and they had a lot of people down there in the crowd supporting them as well.

“Our club motto is ‘uniting the community through sport’ and these boys certainly did that for Rouse Hill.”
