Tired of seeing local boxers not get the recognition they deserve, Annangrove fighter Ricky Colosimo is helping showcase The Hills’ untapped talent.
In late November, Colosimo will host Hills Fight Night — a pro-am event to be held at Bella Vista Farm.
“Hosting an event in the Hills area has always been something I have wanted to do,” Colosimo said. “I think it will be very successful.
“There are a lot of talented kids who box … but do not receive the recognition they deserve and this event will give them a chance to showcase their skills and provide a great night of entertainment.”
Colosimo is no stranger to the ring. He has boxed on and off since he was 17 and has a professional record of three wins from three fights with two of those victories coming by knockout.
But, he says, while the thrill of a fight is tough to beat, he enjoys the “puzzle” of organising events.
“I have a marketing and events background, so for me the organisational side has always been something I have enjoyed,” he said. “I love seeing all the pieces of the event coming together like a puzzle.
“I will be fighting on the card also so … I will have to be 100 per cent focused on my fight so the team around me will play a big role in helping the night to run smoothly.”
The card will feature six to seven amateur fights and three professional bouts.
