Baulkham Hills netballers Hannah Victor and Matisse Letherbarrow have been named in the 12-person squad to represent NSW at next year’s under 17 National Netball Championships.
The pair will make their debut appearance for NSW at the event which will be held in Adelaide in April.
Victor says she couldn’t be more proud to be representing her state.
“The trials were pretty hard, it was a pretty vigorous process,” she said.
“To see the final list was really overwhelming, I was over the moon.”
More than 300 netballers tried out for a spot in head coach Nerida Stewart’s squad with three regional and nine metro-based players eventually making the final cut.
“This was a rigorous selection process but we were rewarded with a fantastic insight into the depth of talent we have across NSW,” Netball NSW’ state pathways manager Margaret Hamley said.
“To have so many talented netballers engaged and showing a huge passion for representing NSW at National level is hugely heartening. NSW has a proud history at the Championships and it is there that we see many future Swifts, Giants and Diamonds players and coaches come through the ranks.
“We now start the process of preparing for the Nationals in April and I know Nerida, her players and her support staff can’t wait to get started.”
