SEVERAL new bus services are in operation in Schofields, Quakers Hill, Rouse Hill, Stanhope Gardens, The Ponds and Marsden Park from this week.

The existing T72 service between Blacktown and Quakers Hill will be extended to Rouse Hill Town Centre via Alex Ave (Schofields) and Schofields Rd.

It will service residents in the Alex Ave precinct and give Quakers Hill residents around Bali Dr and Walker St a direct link to Rouse Hill Town Centre.

Riverstone state Liberal MP Kevin Conolly said the changes were part of hundreds of bus services being rolled out under the Growth Services Program to new release areas in western Sydney.

“These changes reflect the ongoing growth in western Sydney and provide services that keep pace with that growth,” he said.

“In February, 1,100 of the 1,800 new weekly bus journeys per week rolled out under the Growth Services Program were added to new release areas in Western Sydney, in recognition of the area’s growing importance as a place to live and work.”

■ There will be 15 new services each week for Route 740 between Plumpton and Macquarie Park via Quakers Hill and Stanhope Gardens due to Macquarie Park’s increasing popularity as an educational, retail and employment hub.

■ There will be 20 weekday services to Route 751 between Blacktown and Colebee. It will extend the route to Marsden Park Industrial Area.

■ Route T74 between Blacktown and Riverstone is being altered to operate along Hambledon Rd, Schofields, instead of Ridgeline Dr at The Ponds, giving residents in these areas more access to bus services, and to The Ponds High School.
