Schoolchildren joins thousands to pay homage at Riverstone-Schofields RSL‘s Anzac Day dawn service

MORE than 3,000 people, including representatives from local schools, paid homage to servicemen and woman at the Anzac Day dawn service at the Riverstone cenotaph on Tuesday.
Around 20 schools and community groups were among those who marched from the Riverstone- Schofields RSL sub-Branch to the cenotaph.
They laid wreaths at the cenotaph, along with representatives from federal and state politicians, local dignitaries, the Quakers Hill LAC and Riverstone-Schofields RSL sub-Branch members.
“It was an honour to also see many serving or ex defence force personal in the vast crowd,” said Riverstone- Schofields RSL sub-Branch president Bruce Shaw, who served in the Vietnam War.
“The 176 Air Dispatch Squadron from Richmond provided the catafalque party and guest speaker.
“A highlight of the service was a flyover of a Hercules from RAAF Richmond.
“The Riverstone-Schofields RSL sub-Branch would sincerely like to thank all those who attended and participated in the service.”
