THE RSPCA Care Centre at Rouse Hill, which handles hundreds of abandoned or lost pets each month, is in urgent need of bedding for their many animals.
The busy care centre has clients from the Hills area and western Sydney which has seen its adoption numbers soar since they first opened in 2009.
When they are overflowing with certain animals, specially kittens, the care centre also cut the costs of adoptions or offer the pets free to clear the backlog.
The care centre manager Julie Wood said the need for bedding is constant but there is more demand during autumn and winter.
“At any given time we will have around 30 kittens, six adult cats, five dogs and several small animals, including rabbits and guinea pigs,” Ms Wood said.
“We always need bedding because some of the dogs will destroy them and also some are too soiled to be used again.
“We need more bedding during the colder months as we have to keep the animals warm.
“We need blankets and towels for the dogs and cars and hay and newspaper (not shredded) for the smaller animals.
“The local community has been brilliant and support us very well.
“Since we opened, the care centre has been doing really well, specially in adoptions.”
The centre provides several veterinary services including desexing, microchipping and vaccination.
Opening hours: 9am-6pm, Monday to Saturday; 10am-6pm Sunday.
