A new restaurant in Rouse Hill is the perfect antidote to the cold winter chill that recently descended upon Sydney.

With hearty, meaty meals, beers by the stein and a lively atmosphere, the new The Bavarian has been heating up the Rouse Hill Town Centre since opening its doors last month.

The warmly-lit dining room has been fitted out with benches and tables, greenery and a large bar in the centre.

As expected, the menu is filled with classic German fare like pretzels, pork knuckle, sausages and an extensive range of schnitzels, but there are also restaurant staples like ravioli, steak, ribs and fish.

The Bavarian recently added a list of “loaded schnitzels” to its menu, featuring bold flavours like The Mexican (topped with nachos) or The American (topped with bacon, maple and waffles).

The serves at The Bavarian are huge, but if you saved any room for dessert, options include sweet pretzels, apple strudel, waffles and ice cream.

There are nearly 20 beers on tap, served in a range of sizes from the modest 300ml to 1L steins or served in a boot and 2L beer tubes.

Along with the expected German beers like Lowenbrau and Hofbrau, The Bavarian also stocks a range of flavoured beers and radlers (shandys).

Owned by Rockpool Dining Group, The Bavarian Rouse Hill joins eight others around Sydney with a 10th due to open upstairs at the Castle Towers’ Piazza soon.

At Rouse Hill, locals have already embraced the newly opened restaurant with schnitzels flying out the doors at night and during the lunch rush.

Thursday nights come to life with live music from 7.30pm and 2-for-1 cocktails from 5pm.

Bookings are recommended on weekends, where tables fill early as locals settle in to enjoy family meals, dinner with friends or late night drinks.

The restaurant has also become a sports bar for locals, with big screens showing a range of games including the State of Origin and NBA playoffs.

Castle Hill will also soon get its own The Bavarian, with a restaurant due to open there in June.
