A QUAKERS Hill kindergarten was back operating as normal today despite a large tree punching through its roof over the weekend.
Blacktown SES said heavy rainfall resulted in 23 call outs over the weekend including some trees down across the region.
An SES crew were called to Quakers Hill Kindergarten and Child Care Centre on Douglas Rd about 6.30pm on Saturday where a large tree had fallen onto the roof.
Blacktown SES acting controller Barry Wademan said no-one was inside the building during the incident and the tree “punched through the roof”.
He said the crew was there for about three and a half hours clearing the tree and branches and working on the damaged property.
Despite the hole in the roof, the kindergarten confirmed it was back operating as per normal on Monday, as the damages did not affect the area where children played and learned.
Mr Wademan said the heavy rainfall on Saturday evening kept Blacktown SES volunteers busy for about 24 hours, attending to jobs, and they had been doing a great job following a busy couple of weeks.
“We have a fairly young headquarters (here at Blacktown) with a lot of new volunteers and they are as keen as mustard.”
