PROHIBITED firearms and weapons were seized from a property in South Windsor, while homes in Windsor and The Ponds were searched as part of a two-day operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs (OMCG) and their associates.
Officers from the Gangs Squad and Strike Force Raptor and police from the state’s Hunter Region are investigating and conducting operations under Strike Force Batterson in response to allegedly violent acts believed to be related to a dispute between rival gangs.
During an firearm prohibition order (FPO) search at a property at South Windsor, police located two pistols, a laser pointer and steroids.
A search warrant was subsequently executed at the property, where police also seized documents and electronic storage devices. A 26-year-old man was arrested and taken to Windsor Police Station, where he was charged with two counts each of possess unauthorised pistol, not keep pistol safely, and acquire firearms subject to FPO, possess prohibited weapon, and possess prohibited drug.
The man, who is a high-ranking member of the Finks OMCG, was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday, where he was refused bail.
Police also did a search at a property at Castlereagh and located a loaded shortened shotgun, pistol, revolver, two crossbows and other firearms, weapons and drugs.
Officers also conducted searches at properties in The Ponds, Windsor, Greystanes, Merrylands, Marayong, Glenhaven and Mt Druitt.
Investigations are continuing.
