A horse named Belle went missing from a paddock in Rouse Hill sometime between March 11 and 15.
Another horse named Spirit was stolen from a paddock on Garfield Rd East in Riverstone on Monday, March 18, after a fence was cut open and the gelding taken during the night.
As of Tuesday, police said the two horses were still missing.
Hawkesbury police said both horses were being treated as stolen but, at this stage, the two cases were not believe to be linked.
Hawkesbury police said incidents involving stolen horses in the area “do not happen often”.
Horse owner Clarissa, who did not want her last name published, said her family was beside themselves and just wanted to get their beloved pet back, Spirit.
“He is a glorious pet and best mate,” she said. “And he has left behind his best bud.”
She said her family owned two horses and the one left behind was visibly upset as well.
“People don’t think horses can show emotion but … he is really grieving.”
She said she went outside, about 11pm, and only spotted one set of eyes and found the cut fence. Her family then drove around looking for Spirit.
She said someone would have targeted the horse because of his appearance.
“He looks pretty and was on a main road,” she said. “He is also gullible and friendly.”
