The Premier said this was the first time 4000 new commuter parking space would be opened at once in Sydney.

“It is so pleasing to see the northwest metro come to life,” she said.

“We know that in a few short months commuters will be using this wonderful new rail system.

“We have now delivered 4000 new commuter car parks across the network.”

Transport Minister Andrew Constance said the service would be “a life changer for residents in the community who have been promised it for years”.

“They’re getting the enormous benefit of a $20 million investment in the metro network.

“To have an additional 4000 car parks around any transport project is great news more many people on the streets.

Mr Constance said the 4000 spaces provided would service the network alongside new park and ride, bicycle and bus facilities.

Baulkham Hills state Liberal MP David Elliott said he was confident the services provided would be adequate, while Castle Hill state Liberal MP Ray Williams said he was “counting down the days until the network opens”.

Riverstone state Liberal MP Kevin Connolly said thousands of constituents would benefit from the new service when it opens in May.
