The last surviving member of the Frost siblings, who lived at historic Lynwood House in Pitt Town, has celebrated her 100th birthday.

Victoria Alice May Backhouse, nee Frost, celebrated the milestone birthday on Saturday at Lynwood Country Club with about 50 family members including her three sons, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Heritage-listed Lynwood House was one of the first properties built in Pitt Town in 1814.

Mrs Backhouse was born on September 19, 1917, and moved to Lynwood House with her family in 1922. At the time it was a horse stud.

She left school in Year 10 and spent a year in Sydney before returning home.

When her husband Clive – who she met in 1939 – returned from the war in 1945 they moved away for three years.

The couple then lived in Windsor and moved to Epping in 1958. Lynwood House stayed in the Frost family until about 1970.

The third eldest of six children, Mrs Backhouse is the last surviving member of the Frost children. Her husband Clive died 22 years ago aged 78, and she now lives at the Anglicare Retirement Village in Castle Hill.
