FOR Mark Gable and his Choirboys, playing the music of Bon Scott and AC/DC is second nature.
Gable, still rocking hard in his sixties, wants the punters to hear the next best thing to the late Scott, insisting that the Choirboys are head over shoulders above the other musicians paying tribute to the music of AC/DC.
Best known for their catchy hit Run to Paradise in 1988, the Choirboys have been around for more than three decades, delighting audiences around Australia and overseas with their power packed shows.
The father of six is full of anecdotes and flashbacks in addition to being down to earth why he is excited about the tour.
“We are only temporary in this world and we are only visitors here,” Gable said.
“Most of us won’t be remembered and though I would like people to remember me as the most beautiful person they have seen in their life, if I have to be remembered for one thing, then Run To Paradise will be good.”
Talking about his focus on Bon Scott songs at their show at The Ettamogah Hotel, Gable said:
“We used to play with AC/DC way back then and even recorded our first album at the same studio as them.
“And we decided four years ago that we would do their songs and the shows went down a storm in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
“We have a connection that goes way back
“Bon Scott was one of the greatest front men rock has ever seen, and when he joined AC/DC it began a journey that is still legendary today.
“I love being in Choirboys, but I’ve always wanted to be in AC/DC, this is my chance to do both/”
Gable, whose humour and ability to laugh at himself endears himself to his fans, will be accompanied by Ian Hulme, Brett Williams and Lindsay Tebbutt during his show at The Ettamogah.
The show will cover the High Voltage and Highway to Hell albums and feature songs including
It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll), Rock ‘N’ Roll Singer, The Jack, Live Wire, T.N.T., Girls Got Rhythm and Walk All Over You.
“We’re not just performing songs but recreating the atmosphere around them during the 1970s,” Gable said.
