A man has been charged following a significant house fire at Rouse Hill.
The occurred at a Tallawong Rd home about 12.55am on Thursday.
Police allege a male resident of the home, 54, was at a neighbouring property when he heard his home was on fire, before attending and finding a man pouring accelerant onto it.
Quakers Hill police then found the man allegedly assaulting a Fire and Rescue NSW firefighter, 50, at the rear of the property.
Officers deployed OC spray before he ran inside the burning home.
Officers removed the man from the home, before deploying a taser after he allegedly armed himself with a knife.
The man, 38, was subdued and arrested before being taken to Blacktown Hospital for treatment.
He was charged with break and enter house destroying property (damage exceeding $60000), assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and resist officer in execution of duty.
He was also charged with outstanding matters including breach of bail, two counts of common assault (DV-related) and an outstanding warrant.
The man was refused bail via a bedside bail hearing and ordered to front Blacktown Court today.
