Hunt is on for man who stole eight mobile phones from a supermarket

POLICE are looking for a man in connection to the theft of eight mobile phones from Coles at Stanhope Village on Thursday.

STANHOPE GARDENS

POLICE are looking for a man in connection to the theft of eight mobile phones from Coles at Stanhope Village on Thursday. A police report said at 9.25am, eight mobile phones were stolen from the front service desk at the supermarket. Police would like to speak to a man, aged in his 30s, caucasian in appearance and was last seen wearing a black hat, yellow high visibility vest, black shorts and black sneakers, carrying a black backpack.

STANHOPE GARDENS

A Stanhope Gardens woman, 35, got the shock of her life when she was confronted by a man inside her Helston St home last Tuesday. A police report said at 4.20pm last Tuesday, the woman returned home and confronted a man, described as caucasian, about 35-40 years old, with a goatee beard and wearing a fluoro yellow shirt with grey baseball cap, dark pants and white shoes. As the man attempted to leave her home he grabbed the woman’s hand bag, which she was carrying at the time. The man left the home and dropped the handbag on the footpath. The woman suffered minor injuries during the incident. Quakers Hill detectives are investigating.

SCHOFIELDS

A Schofields man, 36, was charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited drug after he was pulled over by police travelling along Anella Ave, Castle Hill on Thursday. A police report said between 10.15-10.30pm, police stopped the driver and asked if he had any drugs on him. He allegedly admitted to having `coke’ and police located a small clear resealable plastic bag with white powder. Upon a further search of the car, 10 pink tablets were also found. The man is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on February 8.

SOUTH WINDSOR

A South Windsor man, 23, was charged with supply prohibited drug after failing a roadside drug test last Wednesday. A police report said at 11.35am a man was stopped by Hawkesbury LAC officers in Woods Rd, South Windsor. A roadside breath test and drug test was conducted. The man failed the roadside drug test. A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed a clear plastic resealable bag containing what police will allege is methylamphetamine or ‘ice’. The man will appear in Windsor Court next month.

BOX HILL

A Marsden Park man, 50, and a Schofields woman, 43, were charged after property was stolen from a house in Terry Rd, Box Hill last Tuesday. At 3.15pm a man was doing a check of animals on the property when he noticed one of the home’s windows smashed and in the garage a back window to a car was smashed, an engine and radiator removed, along with cartons of drink stolen. As the man did an inspection two men and a woman arrived in a Ford Falcon. Police were called. A Marsden Park man was charged with break, enter and steal, while the Schofields woman was charged with stealing. Both are due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Friday, January 25.

CORRECTION

Inin last week’s Street Watch we incorrectly reported that a 32-year-old man was punched by a 55-year-old man during an alleged fight in Quakers Hill on January 6. According to police, it was the 55-year-old man who was punched and hit his head on the road. Investigations are continuing into the incident.
