A FOUR-storey, 78-room hotel has been approved for The Fiddler at Rouse Hill.

The development application for 2 Commercial Rd was approved by The Hills Shire Council last week and will comprise 67 standard, seven family and four disability-friendly rooms.

The development would provide much needed accommodation for events held in the northwest.

The application also sought alterations and additions to existing space inside the Fiddler, including 145sq m of extra function space and a swimming pool for the hotel.

The application said the hotel was likely to be operated by The Fiddler but there would be potential to engage a chain for branding.

The application said the hotel’s simple grid design drew inspiration from the veranda and picket fence fronting the heritage listed Royal Oak Inn.

The existing parking area will reduce the total carpark capacity from 607 to 518 spaces.

The Fiddler general manager Sara Belling said there was always a plan to add accommodation to the property.

“We are really excited,” Ms Belling said.

“We have been constantly evolving the business since renovations began in 2014 and have invested heavily in our product offer.

“It means we have a full product — eat, play, stay as they say,” she said.

Ms Belling said The Fiddler catered for 40 weddings each year and the hotel would solidify The Fiddler’s “place in the market as a unique entertainment and dining precinct”.

It would assist people struggling to find accommodation “after attending events not only at our venue but also in the local area”.

Ms Belling said a commencement date for construction has not been determined.
