PETER Overton’s stunningly-decorated Quakers Hill house has taken out the Champions of Champions category for the fourth time in the Blacktown City Decorate Your Home Christmas Lights Competition.

Peter and Lauraine Overton have been decorating their Mallee St home lovingly for Christmas for more than two decades with Mr Overton’s latest effort taking him more than two months.

“I’ve been doing this for 22 years,” he said.

“People ask me how much money I’ve spent over the years.

“I never worked it out but it’s worth it, just to see the kids’ faces light up and the older kids’ as well.”

Mr Overton won a Hoyts Cinema double pass and a $500 cheque, most of which he will donate to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

He said he has raised around $50,000 for the hospital over two decades, thanks to generous donations from Blacktown residents and competition prize money.

“I always appreciate the support,” he said. “It’s never too much trouble for people to donate. “I’m very happy the council keeps the competition running every year.”

The Best Overall category was taken out by Wayne Hoban from Oakhurst while Stanhope Gardens couple Andrew and Kerrie Moore made it a hat-trick of wins in the best Townhouse/Villa category.

Blacktown mayor Stephen Bali said: “The quality of work and level of detail in the winning displays was astonishing.
