The rising numbers of unlocked cars leading to thefts is soaring across western Sydney. Quakers Hill Local Area Command’s crime co-ordinator Sergeant Bradley Uys urged drivers to make sure they double-checked their cars were locked even if they were left in the owner’s driveway. “We’re stepping up patrols but it’s important people do lock their vehicles because otherwise it’s too easy for the criminals,” Sgt Uys said. Vehicles at Quakers Hill streets Verna Place, Elwood Cres, Prescott Circuit, Highfield Rd and Summerfield Ave were hit between 8pm on Friday and 5.30am on Saturday. Thefts from vehicles also occurred at Bullaburra St and Kelby St from 7pm on Sunday. Police continue to investigate the incidents.
