Cops call time on liquor thieves

Thefts from liquor stores are on the rise across Sydney but Quakers Hill police area command is fighting back and calling time on the thieves. This and more in our area crime roundup.

Quakers Hill police are investigating a spate of brazen thefts from liquor shops across the police area command. Crime co-ordinator Sergeant Karan Lodge said police were checking all CCTV cameras in the areas where alcohol had been taken and would chase the perpetrators.

“Police are taking every avenue to locate these people and take action. We will find you,” Sgt Lodge said.

In the latest incident, a woman described as being in her 40s stole a bottle of bourbon from a display shelf at a bottle shop in Windsor Rd about 9pm last Thursday. She has a thin build and short, light- brown, scruffy hair in a ponytail. She was wearing loose black and white pants and joggers.

VINEYARD

Three bags of the drug ice were allegedly found in a car driven by a Quakers Hill man on Friday night after he was pulled over by officers working on high-profile police Operation Merret.

Police allegedly found 3.37g of the drug. Police found the man was contravening an outstanding prison warrant, driving while suspended and disqualified from driving when they stopped him in Windsor Rd at 11.30pm.

He was arrested, had bail refused at Riverstone police station and appeared at Blacktown Court where bail was not applied for.

SCHOFIELDS

A 45-year-old Schofields man will be in court on April 16 after allegedly being caught drink- driving on Sunday in Station St. Police stopped the driver at 2.55pm for a random breath test, which proved positive.

He was arrested and taken to Riverstone police station where police said he blew a mid-range 0.102. He was given a court attendance notice for Blacktown Court.

QUAKERS HILL

Police are appealing for information about the whereabouts of a stolen white Holden Astra sedan belonging to a 71-year-old Quakers Hill man. The car was taken from Quakers Hill shopping centre carpark on Wednesday, about 11.10pm. The numberplate is AOY 06H.

SCHOFIELDS

Water meter thieves have been busy in the suburb between September and last Friday, snatching no less than 11 of the meters from houses waiting for their new owners in Farm Rd, Bellflower Rd, Stanmore St and Whitechapel Ave.

ROUSE HILL

A cafe worker’s handbag was stolen from her workplace on Sunday between 1pm and 2.30pm. She had left it in a drawer used by staff and when she finished her shift in the Adelphi St eatery she discovered it had been taken, along with her mobile phone, which was in the bag.

BEAUMONT HILLS

A power drill and nail gun were stolen from a silver Toyota HiLux ute parked in Benson Rd between 6pm Saturday and 10am Sunday. The items were valued at $1600.

ROUSE HILL

Calls to police from members of the public led to officers talking to a 25-year-old Lurnea man in Mile End Rd on Saturday, about 10.30pm. A police search of the man’s parked car allegedly revealed a black glove containing two vials — one empty, one containing 10ml of yellow liquid — that police believed to be steroids. They allegedly found syringes and needles and a separate white box containing three blister packs of tablets. Police investigations are continuing.

BEAUMONT HILLS

Jewellery — a ring and earrings — valued at $19,000 was stolen from a drawer in a home at Atlantic Place between 9am and 9pm last Thursday.
