Community helps police arrest six youths for trespassing and breaking into motor vehicles

Quick thinking by some Riverstone residents resulted in six youths being arrested for breaking into motor vehicles and entering into the backyards of homes along Boydhart St, Riverstone, last Wednesday.

RIVERSTONE

Quick thinking by some Riverstone residents resulted in six youths being arrested for breaking into motor vehicles and entering into the backyards of homes along Boydhart St, Riverstone, last Wednesday. A police report stated at 10.35pm on Wednesday, November 2, six male youths had travelled from Doonside to Boydhart St. The youths were allegedly seen by members of the community looking into motor vehicles and entering the rear yards of nearby homes. One resident approached the youths in the rear yard of one property before being threatened by a 13-year-old. Quakers Hill local area command police arrived soon after, and all six youths were arrested and taken to Riverstone Police Station. Upon searching the youths, police found several items belonging to the owners of the motor vehicles. The youths were charged with offences including trespassing, common assault and stealing. Four of the youths, aged 17, 16, 15, and 13, were granted conditional bail and will appear in the Parramatta Children’s Court next week. A 17-year-old was refused bail to appear in the Parramatta Children’s Court. The sixth youth, aged 12, was released from police custody. Sergeant Brad Uyse said police would like to thank residents who called police straight away and assisted police in their investigation. “If you see any suspicious person(s) and/or vehicles in your area, please do not hesitate to contact the police,” Sgt Uyse said. BEAUMONT HILLS

A passer-by alerted a Beaumont Hills family of four their house was on fire on Saturday. A police report said at 6.25am, a passer-by knocked on the front door of the Hotham Ave home, and the family managed to leave safely. The fire, believed to have started in the pergola, managed to get into the roof cavity, and the downstairs kitchen, dining room and pergola were damaged. The second floor to the home received minimal damage.

RIVERSTONE

A Lalor Park man, 44, was charged with having goods in custody, trespassing and possession of a prescribed restricted substance after police were alerted to him being in a vacant property at Deirdre Drive, Riverstone, last Wednesday. A police report said at 11.20am, a man was seen doorknocking along Deirdre Drive, until he came across a vacant property and entered through a window. Witnesses saw him inside and called police. Police arrived and saw the man leave the premises from the backyard. They spoke to the man and, as a result, searched him and found mobile phones, documents with other people’s bank account details, health care cards and some prescribed medication that wasn’t in his name. The man was given conditional bail and is due to appear in Blacktown Local Court on December 12.

KELLYVILLE

A Glenwood man, 19, was charged with driving while suspended after he was allegedly caught driving a car in Jerilderie Ave, Kellyville, last Wednesday. The man is due to appear in the Parramatta Local Court on November 30.

ROUSE HILL

A gold Toyota Camry sedan, parked in Adelphi Ave, Rouse Hill, received damage to its paintwork between 10pm last Sunday and noon last Monday.
