ALLOW yourself to be taken on a journey through the highs and lows of life through the eyes of 22-year-old up-and-coming artist Monique Rojas in her exhibition Craze at the Dennis Johnson Library at Stanhope Gardens this month.
The Grill’d at Rouse Hill employee said she predominantly works in the medium of collage but also dabbles in a bit of painting.
She has been making collages since she was six years old and started her professional career three years ago.
“I have been mainly self taught, however the women in my family taught me about cutting, painting, craft and showed me the creative skills I need to be an artist,” she said.
“My father introduced me to culture, by taking me to art museums and galleries at a young age and that has influenced my artwork ever since.”
The Marayong resident said she joined the Creative Grounds artist network after being a volunteer with the organisers.
“I find doing my art is very good for expressing myself and exploring my emotions and I hope people enjoy looking at my exhibition,” she said.
Her work has been exhibited in Sydney bar Ching-a-lings for an art and music show and have also featured in a two-page spread in the French art magazine Black Rainbow.
Plus, she has also made multiple artworks for musicians and boutique stores all over the world.
