Followers flocked to the Instagram account their owners Sarah and Grayson Haora had created to share photos of them.
“It took off overnight,” Mrs Haora said.
Now more than 9000 fans follow Maluka and Avalon’s adventures, including trips interstate to events and gigs.
Mrs Haora said her favourite part of taking the dogs to events was the “sheer happiness” it brought people.
“I love the smile that the dogs bring to people,” she said.
Mrs Haora said five-year-old Maluka and three-year-old Avalon “love the attention” they receive from people at events.
Mrs Haora said the couple had spent thousands of dollars over the years on the dogs, including on interstate travel to events and an array of cute outfits, but they “just love doing it”.
“We don’t think of the money we’re spending,” she said.
“We do it because we love it and it’s a bonus that we can promote Dachshund Rescue Australia as well, that makes it even more worthwhile.”
Fans of Maluka and Avalon can meet the adorable pair at the Dog Lovers Show at Sydney Olympic Park in August where they will walk the red carpet along with other social media famous dogs.
The sixth annual Dog Lovers Show will be held for the first time at Sydney Showground on August 3 and 4 with events like a canine ninja challenge and dog yoga.
