NSW university offers: Full list of ATAR cut-offs

The minimum ATAR for New South Wales university courses has been revealed with entry ranks plummeting for major courses. SEE THE LIST.

Students thinking COVID-19 would have seen a dramatic drop in ATAR requirements for their chosen courses have been given a wake up call as the University Admissions Centre reveal the lowest scores needed for all NSW University courses.

UAC general manager, Kim Piano, said while low ATAR requirements for courses varies year to year, highly competitive courses have retained their lofty needs.

“This led to disappointment for some students who felt that it might have been easier to get in due to COVID,” Ms Piano said. “But it really depends on the course.”

The UAC boss said universities were continuing to bare the brunt of major declines in international students, telling NewsLocal the industry may never recover to pre-COVID levels.

“Even if international students can return at some time in 2021, and there is still nothing definitive on that, some of them will have already chosen to go elsewhere and it will take years for the numbers to recover to pre-COVID levels, if ever,” she said.

“There’s been a lot of talk about whether the lack of international students has meant increased opportunity for domestic students.

“There’s no blanket rule here as some universities will increase their domestic cohort size, while others will maintain their domestic numbers in the expectation that internationals will soon return.”

Ms Piano said NSW universities were also grappling with implementing hybrid classes ranging from face-to-face to online learning.
