Rajendra Sharma charged after alleged domestic violence stabbing at Villawood

A man who allegedly knifed a woman multiple times to her back, chest and head in a domestic violence stabbing in Sydney’s southwest has been charged with attempted murder.

A man allegedly knifed a woman multiple times to her back, chest and head in a domestic violence stabbing at Villawood.

Rajendra Sharma, 61, was charged after police allege he stabbed the 55-year-old woman at a home on Alcoomie St, Villawood, on Sunday about 3pm.

Bankstown police attended and found the woman with stab wounds to her body. Paramedics treated her at the scene before she was taken to Liverpool Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

Sharma was arrested at the scene and taken to Westmead Hospital where he remained under police guard until he was charged on Monday with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm with intent to murder and contravening a prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic).

He has been refused bail to appear via video link at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday when his matter was adjourned to July 11.

Police allege the stabbing was domestic violence related.
