A mum-of-three’s fury at being asked to leave a pub has led to her charging at an bartender and smashing a schooner glass across the bar.

Zoey Friedrichs, 44, walked into Kingswood Hotel on a Friday afternoon in February and headed straight to the pokies room, where she was asked to leave by an employee, court documents reveal.

The woman ignored the request leading to a second employee to ask her to leave.

Friedrichs then walked into the TAB area and unleashed abuse on a bartender who said “stop coming back here, you know you’re barred”, according to court documents.

In response, the 44-year-old woman charged at the bartender and swung at a schooner glass on top of the bar which smashed into a beer tap nozzle and shattered.

The court heard a shard of glass struck the bartender and caused a small cut, which led to police being called.

Friedrichs was convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in her absence earlier this year, but made an annulment application to have her conviction quashed at Penrith Local Court on Thursday (October 7) as she had misread the court date.

The 44-year-old woman said she wasn’t guilty of the assault with her lawyer suggesting the incident had been exaggerated.

She told the court she undergoing a mental health assessment at the time of the incident and had stopped taking prescription medication to treat schizophrenia,

“I was given Risperidone,” she said. “I no longer take it. It wasn’t working with me. It was making me dysfunctional.”

Magistrate James Gibson refused the annulment application and confirmed the conviction for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, after considering CCTV footage and a picture of the injury.

Freidrichs was sentenced to an 18 month community corrections order.
