A man from Sydney’s northwest invited two teenagers off the street to live with him before starting a sexual relationship with one, a court heard.

The South Windsor man who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Penrith District Court after pleading guilty to three counts of having sexual intercourse with and sexually touching a child aged between 14 and 16.

The court heard the man invited a 15-year-old girl and her boyfriend to live at his Windsor home on March 6 last year.

The two teens were taken in by the man because “they had nowhere else to go”, with his solicitor noting his client did not “force” the pair to move in.

Some time after they moved in, the man and the girl started a sexual relationship involving unprotected sex while the girl’s boyfriend was either asleep or out of the house, the court heard.

The illegal relationship ended when the man kicked the pair out, because he was “sick of their s--t”.

A short time after the “distressed” young woman reported the man to police and he was taken into custody on April 10.

The man will return to Penrith District Court for sentencing on Monday.

The man was granted Supreme Court bail in September which was revoked this week following a breach in his bail conditions.

On Friday, Judge Miiko Kumar chose to grant bail again, after hearing the man had gone to a different bail address over concerns for his safety.

During an emotional cross-examination, the man told the court he “would take it all back”, revealing he was a victim of childhood sexual abuse and therefore “knows how it feels”.

“I’m not saying there’s an excuse, I stuffed up and I own it, if I could take it all back I would in a heartbeat,” he said.

He also detailed his harrowing time spent in custody having been allegedly sexually assaulted and physically assaulted.

“I was in the showers minding my own business, I see a glimpse of this guy behind me who then smacks me over the head, he knocks me out and breaks my hand,’’ he said.

The court saw the man raise a swollen hand, which he said “looked like a boomerang” because of the break.

A defence solicitor said the “raw, emotional and honest” submissions made by his client were indicative of his remorse and his “admirable attempts at getting his life back on track”.

“This is not the same person who committed the offending, he readily acknowledges what he did was wrong and he wishes it didn't happen,” the defence solicitor said.

The same solicitor also suggested “the distress” felt by the victim was tied to her “embarrassment” over “being in a sexual relationship with someone who was 32”.

Judge Miiko Kumar reserved her judgement for Monday and the man will remain on bail.
