St Marys: Daniel Viksna faces pursuit charges
A 21-year-old man who police allege stole a motorbike from a rider during a St Marys pursuit will remain in custody.

A man who police allege threatened a motorcycle rider and stole his bike during a police pursuit through St Marys on Tuesday will remain in custody.
Police allege Daniel Viksna, 21, was driving a white Toyota Hilux when officers attempted to stop him for a traffic check on Brisbane St, St Marys, at about 11.20am on February 18.
They alleged Viksna ignored the direction to stop, and a short pursuit was initiated.
According to police, the pursuit ended when Viksna failed to negotiate a left turn and crashed into trees.
Police allege he got out of the car and threatened a motorcycle rider with physical violence before taking his bike.
He then allegedly rode the bike a short distance before abandoning it on Cook St.
Viksna allegedly attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was arrested a short time later.
He was taken to Nepean Hospital for a medical examination before being taken to Mt Druitt police station.
He faced charges of take and drive conveyance without consent, two counts of unlicensed for class, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, and robbery at Mt Druitt Local Court on February 20.
Viksna’s lawyer did not apply for bail this afternoon, and it was refused by Magistrate Stephen Corry.
He will next appear before court on February 27.
