Whalan man in court over alleged online grooming
A man from Sydney’s west will front court after police alleged he grooming a 16-year-old girl from the Philippines via social media.

A 53-year-old Whalan man has been charged with online grooming offences after he allegedly encouraged a 16-year-old girl from the Philippines to send him sexually explicit images.
Police will allege the man encouraged the girl to send images in return for payment via social media.
In April, NSW Police began investiging after information from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) relating to alleged online grooming offences by a man in Sydney’s west.
On Tuesday, Police searched a Whalan home about noon and allegedly mseized electronic devices and an amount of methylamphetamine.
The 53-year-old was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with drug possession, child abuse material possession and using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material.
The man was refused bail and will appear before Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday.
Investigations are continuing.
