Penrith Aussi Masters Swimming club recently won the overall highest points per swimmer shield when they competed against 17 NSW masters clubs.
The Penrith Masters had 12 members competing at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre against 257 competitors in the annual NSW Relay meet.
Club president Chris Coburn said the club celebrated their win and were happy with the results.
“We have 24 members ranging in age from 27 years to 83,” he said.
“This is an outstanding achievement for a small club like ourselves.
“We have a couple of National Champions and those who swim only for recreation. We compete
in about 12-15 carnivals each year.’
“We all train at our individual pace during the week but meet up at Atmosphere Health and Fitness Club at 6.30am every Saturday for an one-and-a-half-hour session.
“This is followed by coffee/breakfast straight afterwards.
The motto of NSW Swimming is Fitness, Friendship & Fun and at Penrith we strive to meet these ideals.
