No matter how tough the going gets at the Australian masters titles in Adelaide next month Penrith Cycling Club’s Peter Milostic has seen worse.
The former top mountain biker and road cyclist is eyeing off some major titles at the upcoming cycling championships in Adelaide.
And he’s put in the hard yards to make sure he’s in top form for the upcoming event.

Milostic took on the herculaneum task of racing both the NSW masters and elite open time trial crowns less than two hours apart and then a road race title the following day at Gunning, south west of Sydney, earlier this month.
And he did it in heinous conditions, buffeted by winds gusting in excess of 50km/h and in freezing conditions.
“Because of the wind, the chill factor was minus six and the wind was 55-60 km,” Milostic said.
“You don’t get such extreme conditions normally.”
Despite the adverse weather Milostic won the masters time trial to defend the crown he won a year ago.
“I got the fastest time of the day across every age group … masters, women and under 19. That’s always a bit of a goal for me,’’ Milostic said.
It was the rider’s 10th title in the masters category and an indicator of good form heading into the Australian championships in South Australia.
He had hoped to claim a 12th elite title but with the race on the same day as the masters he finished second.
This was still a memorable feat given his efforts earlier in the day.
The 45-year-old, who finished fourth in the road race the following day, is now gearing up for more racing at the Australian masters in October.
“My main goal is the champion of champions jersey,’’ he said.
“I’ve won it eight years in a row so that’s my goal.
“It’s points cumulated over time trial, road face and the criterium.’’

Milostic said he still loves a spot he has contested most of his life.
“I just still love it. I thrive on it,’’ he said.
“As I get older I love it more because there is no pressure. I’m just driven to see if I can do it.’’
