A specialist police officer has been hit with a weapons ban after he allegedly intimidated a woman in an act of domestic violence.
Emu Plains man Shayne Michael Fogorty, 35, faced Penrith Local Court on Tuesday, charged with stalking or intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical harm.
He is yet to enter a plea.
Police previously said in a statement they would allege Fogorty, a senior constable attached to a specialist command, “verbally threatened a 33-year-old woman known to him”.
Court documents allege Fogorty intimidated the woman to the point she feared physical harm between August 1 and October 28.
Police were called to his home just after 9am on the latter date, following reports of an alleged domestic violence-related incident.
An apprehended violence order has also been taken out to protect the alleged victim.
One of the order’s conditions is that Fogorty must not possess any prohibited weapons, including his service firearm, except “in accordance with the written direction of his commander”.
He remains on bail and is expected to next face court on November 19.
His employment with NSW Police remains under review.
