They are known for scaling impossibly steep mountains, escaping farms and eating almost anything they lay their eyes on, but ‘Schnitzel the Goat’ is best known for her daily exercise routine.
The 3-year-old goat — who lives with her owner, Beau Niha, in Cambridge Park — is known to run the bridge to bridge river walk on the Nepean River on a daily basis, much to the shock of other runners.
Mr Niha, who has raised Schnitzel from just two weeks old decided to start taking the loyal running buddy on his daily exercise.
“What better place is there to get her into shape than on the river,” Mr Niha told the Penrith Press. “She always sticks close to me because she knows I love her and can run the entire 6.4km in a little over 1 hour and 15 minutes — with a break or two along the way.
“The inspiration behind her name, Schnitzel, is because she was going to be one if I didn’t adopt her.”
Mr Niha said other runners on the river mistake his pet goat for a dog on a regular occasion.
“She is loyal and she doesn’t bark — but she can scream,” he said.
Schnitzel the Goat has a growing Instagram following, which details the life of Mr Niha and his furry friend.
