Penrith player Tyrone May has been hit with four new charges of filming and distributing intimate images without consent at Parramatta Local Court.

NRL scandals: Tyrone May charged over sex tapes

Sidelined Penrith NRL player Tyrone May has been hit with fresh charges over allegedly leaking sex tapes of two women.

May 23, of Tregear, faces eight charges after police laid additional counts of recording and distributing intimate images without consent against the star playmaker.

In March, May was charged with two counts of recording an intimate image without consent, and two counts of distributing an intimate image without consent after handing himself in to Penrith police.

Police documents show the new charges relate to the same alleged victims and are alleged to have taken place at the same time as the original offences.

Police allege May filmed sexual encounters with women in Coffs Harbour and Kingswood last year before the videos surfaced online.

While police say the sex was consensual, it’s alleged the woman were not aware they were being filmed.

May did not appear when his matter was mentioned in Parramatta Local Court today, with his lawyer Samir Banga maintaining not guilty pleas to the initial charges.

Pleas are yet to be entered to the fresh charges.

Mr Banga requested a hearing date be set, which is estimated to take place over three days due to the number of defence and prosecution witnesses.

The court heard there would be seven defence witnesses and video evidence of several minutes would be used in May’s defence.

The case was moved from Penrith Local Court to Parramatta after Magistrate Geoff Hiatt last month disqualified himself from the matter due to his father’s links to the club.

It is reported Mr Hiatt’s father, John, served on the Penrith board for 12 years before his resignation in 2015.

May has been stood down from the club under the code’s no-fault policy until the matter is finalised.

A hearing date is yet to be determined.
