Police officers from the Nepean Police Area Command are investigating after four cars were deliberately set alight in Penrith early this morning.
Police said they were called to an address on Lethbridge St, near Evans St, at about 3.25am following reports that several cars were on fire.
Officers arrived on scene with Fire and Rescue NSW crews at 3.26am according to a Fire and Rescue spokesman.
“When we first arrived, crews came across a car alight within the interior, and they also saw another car further up the street also alight,” the spokesman said.
“There were two trucks in attendance, and in total they extinguished four cars and one pile of rubbish.
“All fires were extinguished just after 4am.”
Police officers established a crime scene shortly after the fires were extinguished.
Police believe the cars were intentionally set alight and that an accelerant may have been used.
Officers are also investigating reports that two males in hoodies were seen riding pushbikes in the area just prior to the incident.
No one was injured, and police are treating the incident as suspicious.
