A man who police allege terrorised his mother in her own home in western Sydney will be allowed to see her over the Christmas period.

Jordan Prisuda, 28, of Werrington, faced Penrith Local Court on Tuesday over the alleged incident in a Werrington home.

Police will allege Prisuda broke a door handle and smashed a glass window while intimidating his mother between 8.30am and 8.45am on Monday morning.

He was charged with two counts of recklessly destroy/damage property and stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear.

During a bail hearing, the prosecution said they were concerned Prisuda would not appear at future court dates due to his history of violence.

“We have concerns for the victim,” she said.

“He has a history of violence relating to a choking incident, and this is a strong prosecution case.

“There’s a recording of the incident and photos were obtained (of the damage).”

Prisuda’s lawyer told the magistrate his client could live at an address in St Clair with his father and could report to police three days a week.

“He’s pleading not guilty to sequences one and two, and guilty to sequence three,” he said.

“He would agree to a condition not to approach or contact the victim except through a lawyer, and he could offer a self-surety of $400.”

Magistrate Brian van Zuylen agreed to grant bail, saying conditions could ameliorate any risk to the safety of the victim.

“He’s got a long record for someone young, and warrants have had to be executed (in the past),” he said.

“He’s prepared to agree to not live at the address, and given the nature of the incident and the plea of guilty to some and not guilty to others, the court is persuaded to grant bail.”

Prisuda must live at an address in St Clair, report to police three times a week, abstain from both drugs and alcohol, and not to enter the Werrington address.

Magistrate van Zuylen did not put a non-contact condition on the bail as “it’s his mother and coming up to Christmas”.

Prisuda will face a hearing on April 21 next year.
