“The building will feature state-of-the-art technology including a nurse call system with wearable devices for residents so that they can alert nurses and carers from any location in the Care Community,” an Opal Healthcare spokeswoman said.

“It will have RFID (radio frequency identification) locks on all resident doors, activated by wearable technology and customisable for each resident, for the convenience of residents and team members.

“The building will have full high speed wi-fi enabling multimedia streaming anywhere in the care community. LED lighting and photo voltaic panels (solar) will be fitted throughout the building.”

The centre will also be open to the wider community, she said.

“The care community will include a wellness centre open to residents and the local community, offering individualised reablement and restorative care programs,” the spokeswoman said.

Along with this project, Opal Healthcare is developing facilities across the state, including a Glenmore Park facility.

“Opal HealthCare has been investing in the people of western Sydney for over 30 years and has a number of care communities in the region, including Bossley Parkside Care Community, Quakers Hillside Care Community, Blacktown Terrace Care Community, and Glenmore Park Care Community which is due to open in 2023.”

Penrith Chamber of Commerce vice-president Debbie O’Connor said the proposal look forward to seeing this project commence.

“The Penrith Valley Chamber are in support of developments that will not only bring in additional jobs to the Penrith area, but also quality of life facilities,” Ms O’Connor said.

“We believe that the aged care facility proposed for St Clair will mean that more locals in our community will be able to have their elderly loved ones cared for close to where they live.”

Construction is expected to begin around August 2022 and completed in December 2023, if it is approved.
