An impressive new gym – founded by Mr Australia himself — is set to open its doors western Sydney, featuring a dedicated protein bar, serving up protein packed shakes with collagen, creatine and tyrosine.
24-hour gym “BodyBeyond” is located on Henry Street, formerly the location of the UFC fighting gym, where professional bodybuilder and founder of 180 Degrees Nutrition, Stan Turek ran his successful body supplements store next door.
The protein bar serves up shakes such as the “Energizer” ¬ with collagen protein, creatine, tyrosine, coconut water and maca powder ¬ and “The Big Stan” named after Mr Turek himself, with almond butter, creatine, banana, honey and cinnamon.
Mr Turek, who grew up in St Clair, had his eye on the spacious premises even before the UFC took over the lease in 2018, so was quick to seize the opportunity, when the previous owners closed their doors back in March.
“The gym is one of the last social settings left, a lot of gyms have lost their community feelings, so I want to be about introducing members to each other, helping each other train.
“A lot of people feel anxiety walking into the gym, so we want to help with that. No one’s better than anyone.”
When asked what inspired him to start running his own gym, Mr Turek, who is also a fully qualified personal trainer, says seeing people change for the better.
“Helping people build their confidence, that’s priceless to me, that ticks the biggest box in my heart,” Mr Turek says when asked what motivated him to
“We test our personal trainers, and put them on a trial period, there’s to be no people on their phones and they better be teaching the right form because Mr Australia is watching.”
As a professional bodybuilder, and winner of the 2022 Mr Australia title, Mr Turek says there’s lots from the sport which can be applied to regular training.
“I want to hand down the expertise from what I’ve learnt in the sport to help people achieve their dream bodies. And you don’t have to be a body builder, I’ve helped mums, dads, clients in wheelchairs, teenagers.”
“We have a mirrored posing room, I get people might feel a bit silly doing bodybuilder poses for just regular training, but that’s how you can learn correct form and technique.”
In total, BodyBeyond has 91 machines, including ones imported from the United States and Mr Turek’s original supplement store of the same name, which has moved five doors down from its previous location
BodyBeyond is located at 112 Henry Street High Street and will have its grand opening on May 27.
