A man will remain behind bars charged over a violent home invasion sparked over a postcode war, which left at least one person seriously injured and several others severely traumatised.

Michael Khan-Speechly, 23 of Doonside appeared to Penrith Local Court via video link from Bathurst Correctional Centre where he is currently being held on remand charged with aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence.

Court documents seen by Penrith Press, allege Khan-Speechley is an associate of “Six Seven” — a street gang representing the 2767 postcode of Doonside— and was involved in a violent break and enter in western Sydney on February 2.

It is also stated in the court documents, Khan-Speechley is an associate of Braden Carlson, whom earlier in the evening allegedly threatened the same group of people at the home on Birdwood avenue in Doonside, standing outside with a bat yelling:

According to the court papers, a few hours later Khan-Speechly, joined by two unknown persons, allegedly forced entry into the home by smashing the front door in with a baseball bat while threatening those inside.

It is understood seven witnesses were inside the home at the time, including full time residents all whom were unknown to Khan-Speechly.

After smashing the door in, it is alleged Khan-Speechly leaned through the door and swung at a man who was attempting to stop him from getting inside.

Police will allege the bat hit the victim in the back of his head causing a 3 cm cut which bled profusely.

As a parting gesture, Khan-Speechley then allegedly smashed the rest of the house’s windows in before him and the two other men fled on foot, while yelling

On Friday a lawyer for Khan was unsuccessful in getting him bail, telling the court in a lengthy set of submissions his client was a man with “strong community ties” who should be at liberty to care for his young child.

However Magistrate said he had no confidence Khan-Speechly could meet the bail conditions, remarking he had 18 prior breaches of bail on his record.

Khan-Speechly has yet to enter any pleas and will remain in custody at Bathurst Correctional Centre on remand.
