A western Sydney teenager and Wollongong man have been denied bail over an alleged kidnapping, in which they allegedly detained and tortured a victim while forcing her to do “unspeakable things”.

St Marys teen Mataja Pagett, 18, and Jayden Williamson of North Wollongong, 21, were denied bail in Penrith Local Court after being charged with taking and detaining in company with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and stalk intimidate.

A third co-accused, Christopher Diliapis, 19 from Dapto has also been charged and was granted bail.

Police will allege on August 30, Pagett, Williamson and Diliapis detained the victim at a unit in North Wollongong between 4pm and 8:30pm – allegedly forcing her to eat cat faeces.

During the bail application, the court heard the victim, who was known to at least one of her alleged kidnappers, was allegedly approached and physically assaulted at Dapto train station before being taken to a nearby property, where she was tied up, assaulted and unable to leave.

The alleged victim later made a statement at hospital alleging she had been taken to a residence and forcibly tied up, with the court hearing she “was particularly vulnerable” while the alleged offending “appeared to be premeditated”.

The police prosecutor said bail was strongly opposed for Pagett and Williamson, citing the safety of the alleged victim as an unacceptable risk.

‘The victim has been subjected to belittling and disgusting behaviour, the things that are done to her are unspeakable and never should have occured,” she said.

Pagett, who appeared via video link from custody, could be seen crying as her lawyer argued her young age was reason enough for her to be granted bail.

“This is a young person, who only recently entered the jurisdiction of adult court after turning 18 just a few weeks ago,” the lawyer said.

After some consideration Magistrate Stephen Corry denied bail for both Williamson and Pagett out of concern for the alleged victim’s ongoing safety.

“Bail is refused, this is a strong prosecution case which involves the ongoing assault and detention of the victim with cable ties,” he said.

Magistrate Corry also said the alleged offending appeared “premeditated” given what was available in the unit to “torture and detain the victim.”

Williamson and Pagett will remain in custody with their matters to return to Wollongong Local Court on November 1.
