Adam Merhi, Emmanual Fareed charged following shooting in Roselands, Canterbury

A man remains in a stable condition after he was injured in a shooting that has led to the arrest of five people in Sydney’s west.

A 23-year old Greenacre man has allegedly hindered a police investigation into an attempted murder following a shooting involving at least five people in Sydney’s southwest.

According to NSW Police, emergency services were called to a unit block on Canterbury Rd, Roselands on Tuesday night, where they found a 30-year-old man with an injured right hand at about 10.40pm.

Adam Merhi was arrested at a Greenacre service station the following night, Wednesday, with an armed tactical police unit arriving on scene to apprehend him.

He was taken to Campsie Police Station, where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm; conceal serious indictable offence of other; and affray.

The alleged shooting victim was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital for treatment. A NSW Police spokesman said he remains there in a stable condition.

“Officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command established a crime scene and arrested two women, who remain before the court on charges of conceal a serious indictable offence, while a man is due in court next month charged with custody of a knife and being armed with intent,” he said.

Merhi’s lawyer, Fadi Abbas, requested an adjournment on his bail hearing in Bankstown court on Thursday.

The magistrate granted the request, with Merhi set to make his bail application tomorrow.

The person police allege Merhi assaulted, Emmanuel Fareed, was charged with stalk/intimidate, reckless wounding, and affray.

Police said 31-year old Burwood resident Fareed was arrested at Day Street police station following inquiries into the shooting.

Fareed was granted bail at Central Local Court on Thursday, and is next scheduled to appear in Bankstown court on June 2.
