A man in his 50s was flown to hospital suffering severe burns after barbecue fire on Australia Day.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to a residential property off Barnes Rd in Llandilo around 12.45pm on Sunday to reports of a barbecue fire.
A Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) spokesman said the person who called emergency services stated a gas cylinder in the barbecue had caught fire, and burned the man’s legs, ankles and knees.
The spokesman described the man as “severely burned” and said he was placed in a cold shower immediately after the incident while awaiting emergency services.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics arrived on the scene just after 1pm and a CareFlight helicopter was called.
The man was flown to the Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
