A man has finally admitted to his role in the incident that left Erol Tokcan dead in a Dharruk apartment almost three years ago.

Jerami Dillon Edward Angelos, 24, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault with intent to rob while in company in Penrith Local Court on Friday almost a year after he was arrested in Parramatta.

Angelos also had his other charges withdrawn by the DPP, including charges of murder, murder accessory after the fact, manslaughter, assault with intent to rob with an offensive weapon, and assault with intent to rob while in company.

According to court documents, Angelos and three other men, who are yet to enter pleas to their charges, had spent the afternoon of March 9, 2018, drinking in the backyard of a Colyton house.

They left the house at 8.30pm to drive to Erol Tokcan’s residence in Dharruk to try to buy cannabis.

The four men were originally turned away, but returned at 9.30pm after Angelos had agreed to rob the occupants of the house for cannabis leaf.

According to facts, Angelos knocked on the front door before another man started threatening the man who answered the door with a knife.

During a subsequent scuffle, it’s alleged one of the other men stabbed Mr Tokcan in the chest causing a fatal injury.

The four men fled the scene in a car and returned to the Colyton home where the weapon was destroyed.

The next day, Angelos confessed to his wife, including the fact the weapon had been destroyed using an industrial grinder.

There is no suggestion Angelos was directly involved in destroying the weapon, or in the murder of Mr Tokcan.

His wife made a statement to police in late 2019, and Angelos was arrested on Macquarie St, Parramatta, in March 2020.

He appeared before Magistrate James Gibson via AVL, and was committed to Parramatta District Court for sentence.

He will next appear on March 26 to set a sentencing date.
