Ian Woods faces child-abuse material charges

A young western Sydney man has found himself in hot water after police allegedly caught him publishing child abuse material online.
Ian Woods, 29, of Oxley Park, first came to police attention in June this year when he was allegedly involved in a conversation online.
According to court documents, police will allege between June 2 and June 3, Woods thought he was communicating with a person under the age of 16, but was actually messaging an undercover police officer.
During the conversations, police will allege Woods shared child abuse material with the undercover officer.
Police will further allege Woods used the internet to transmit and publish child abuse material on the evening of November 6 from his Gregory Ave home.
He was arrested and refused bail by police to appear in Penrith Local Court on Monday.
Woods did not appear during a brief first mention of his matter in Penrith Local Court.
His lawyer did not apply for bail during the mention in callover court, and asked for the matter to be adjourned for a brief of evidence.
Woods will next appear in court on February 1.
